A late 19th century French clock garniture in the Turkish revival style by Samuel Marti. The 8-day mantle clock, number 26, backplate struck with ‘S. Mari et Cie, Medaille de Bronze’. The original pendulum also numbered 26. The three pieces on 3 wooden plinths marked with makers initials DS. The movement has a Brocot suspension and dead-beat escapement and strikes on the half hour and hour.
Provenance: Sotheby’s March 14th 1988, lot 707.
Dimensions: Clock- 36 cm high by 14 cm deep by 19 cm wide. Clock Plinth- 22 cm long by 16 cm deep by 4.5 cm high.
Urn- 18.4 cm high by 8.5 cm base depth by 8.7 base width. Urn Plinth- 11.5 cm long by 10 cm deep by 4 cm high.
