Late 19th century Belgian ‘800’ silver neo-rocaille style vase by Wolfers Frères, Brussels. Also marked with the crescent and crown in rectangle (assay mark for Germany, circa 1895–1900) and impressed ‘Goldschmidt’ for the German firm in Cologne (acting as retailer). This vase was probably designed by Philippe Wolfers and the cherub by Isidore De Rudder as part of the “Les Maraudeurs” range, featuring putti playing.
In 1892 the new Wolfers Frères, maker’s mark, 3 five pointed stars contained in a triangle, was introduced and continued to be used until 1942.
