A cast iron novelty corkscrew in the form of a sailor holding a lifebelt. This example is marked ‘REG. NO. 887319’ inside the head of the corkscrew and ‘REG. No. 887318 & 887319’ on the back of the base. Paul Gladman of 17, New Buildings, Price St, Birmingham 4 was granted a British Registered design number 887319 on the 18th of January 1958 for this design. Perfect helical worm. Circa 1958.
