An English box with an applied silver 17th century plaque after Annibale Carracci (1560-1609) embossed with a procession of a drunken Silenus being supported by satyrs and fauns. The box marked for Sheffield 1934 by Joseph Rodgers & Sons.
Note: Wear and damage to the plaque. Currently this exact scene is untraced in contemporary engravings and paintings.
Dimensions: 15.6 cm long by 10.2 cm wide by 4.6 cm high. The Plaque measures 14.2 cm long by 8.9 cm high.
