An English cast brass single sided corkscrew depicting a tired girl carrying a hot water bottle on her way to bed. This example marked “WHAT A DAY” on the front and “REGD” on the back. The “REGD” stands for Registered as in British Registered design, but no known registration details have been found for this design. It is postulated by Frank Ellis and Barbara Ellis in “Corkscrews: British Registered Designs” page 267 that the designer was George Leslie Tirebuck due to the similar designs of his other corkscrews. Her pigtail forms the perfect helical worm. (Provenance: Frank Ellis Collection 2009)
