Corkscrews
A magnificent two pillar cast brass corkscrew surmounted with a satyr embracing the handle. The two columns are caryatids and they stand on the bottle collar that allows centering of the perfect centre cut bladed worm. In Italian representations of a satyr as a man, he has a goat’s ears, tail, legs and horns. This may suggest Italy as the source for this design. Circa 1860.
