A mid-19th century French 8-day Tortoiseshell mounted mantle clock with gilt bronze mounts in the Louis XV style. The movement by Vincenti et Cie and stamped with ‘Medaille D’Argent 1855’on the backplate. Further marked ‘J. R. & Co, Paris’ acting as retailer. The movement is numbered 966, and the pendulum is numbered 669 (probably original and reverse marked in error). The movement has a Brocot suspension and dead-beat escapement and strikes on the half hour and hour.
Dimensions: 25.5 cm wide by 11.8 cm deep by 53 cm high.
